Cyclist Cabutí’s 10-Month Journey Across Europe Amid COVID-19

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cabutí, a passionate engineer from Barcelona, embarked on what was meant to be a grand cycling adventure from Spain to Singapore. Just days before COVID-19 began to spread rapidly across Europe, his plans took an unexpected turn.

In March 2020, Cabutí found himself trapped by the Italian border blockade only two days into his journey. To add to the challenges, his booked hotel refused accommodation, leaving him without a place to stay and disrupting his original route.

Undeterred, Cabutí adapted to the new reality brought by the pandemic. Over the next ten months, he cycled an impressive 25,700 kilometers, traversing 43 countries including Belarus, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, and France. This epic journey not only tested his endurance but also allowed him to witness firsthand the varied responses and resilience of different nations during a global crisis.

Reflecting on his experience, Cabutí shares a mixture of emotions. The journey was filled with moments of solitude and uncertainty, but also with incredible encounters and personal growth. His story is a testament to the spirit of adventure and the ability to find purpose and connection even in the most challenging times.
