SPIC’s Turkey Open Day: Empowering Sea Turtles & Sustainable Energy

On December 23, the State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) hosted an open day event at the Hunutlu Thermal Power Plant project in Turkey, streamed live to engage the community and stakeholders. The event provided an in-depth look at the plant's construction progress and highlighted SPIC's commitment to environmental protection in the surrounding areas.

Situated in Adana province, the Hunutlu plant stands adjacent to the picturesque Mediterranean Sea, boasting a total installed capacity of 1.32 million kilowatts. This strategic location underscores SPIC's dedication to harnessing sustainable energy while preserving the natural beauty of the region.

For the residents of Hunutlu village, the annual arrival of sea turtles marks a significant event as these majestic creatures embark on their first journey towards the sea. SPIC's construction efforts have been meticulously planned to ensure that the power plant does not contribute to dust or pollution on the local beaches, safeguarding the delicate marine ecosystem.

The Hunutlu Thermal Power Plant is equipped with advanced flue-gas purification systems and integrated cooling towers. These features not only enhance the plant's efficiency but also ensure a minimal ecological footprint, fostering a healthier environment for the Mediterranean Sea and its inhabitants.
