Ambassadors’ China Story: Imron Cotan on Trade Growth & Personal Ties

In the latest installment of the \"Ambassadors' China Story\" series, former Indonesian ambassador to China, Imron Cotan, shares his insightful experiences from his tenure between 2010 and 2013. A passionate cyclist, Cotan found Beijing to be his favorite city among the many places he visited during his service.

Under Cotan's leadership, the trade volume between China and Indonesia saw a remarkable increase from $1.2 billion to $5 billion. This substantial growth significantly enhanced the economic exchanges between the two nations, fostering stronger bilateral relations.

Beyond his diplomatic achievements, Cotan is an avid Jackie Chan fan, having watched nearly all of the star's movies. A memorable highlight of his time in China was meeting Jackie Chan at a charity dinner, an experience he cherishes deeply.

Although his official duties have concluded, Cotan expresses a heartfelt desire to return to China annually whenever possible, continuing to build on the personal and professional connections he established during his ambassadorship.
