Cycling Diplomacy: Ambassador Imron Cotan’s China Story

Imron Cotan served as the Indonesian ambassador to China from 2010 to 2013. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in increasing the trade volume between the two nations from $1.2 billion to $5 billion, significantly enhancing economic exchanges. Cotan, an avid cyclist, found Beijing to be his favorite city among the many places he visited in China.

Beyond his diplomatic achievements, Cotan is a huge fan of Jackie Chan, having watched almost all of the actor's movies. A memorable highlight of his time in China was meeting Chan at a charity dinner, an experience that left a lasting impression. Looking ahead, Ambassador Cotan plans to return to China annually, time permitting, to continue fostering strong ties between Indonesia and China.
