Frontline Heroes: DyA’s Tireless Battle Against COVID-19

The DyA (Stop and Help) has been a beacon of hope since its inception in 1966, evolving from assisting car accident victims to becoming a premier international rescue and relief service. Today, this dedicated non-profit organization stands on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Basque Country.

Under the leadership of Javier Ardanaz, who brings four decades of experience to the role, the DyA's Special Group for Rescue and Relief in Biscay has adapted to the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic. Ardanaz, who has led missions in disasters from Indonesia's tsunami to the earthquake in Pakistan, now faces an invisible adversary close to home.

The DyA's current efforts include transporting COVID-19 positive cases to hospitals, conducting patrols to ensure adherence to confinement rules, providing essential socio-sanitary support, and disinfecting medical centers, public buildings, and senior residences. These actions are critical in mitigating the spread of the virus and supporting the community during these trying times.

Javier Ardanaz emphasizes the importance of the community's support, noting, \"The people's applause is our vitamins.\" This sentiment reflects the deep connection between the DyA and the residents they serve, highlighting the collective effort required to overcome the pandemic.

As the DyA continues its mission, their resilience and dedication serve as an inspiration to young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, thought leaders, and anyone passionate about making a real-world impact.
