Student’s Journey Back Home to the Chinese Mainland Amid COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted lives around the globe, forcing many international students to make tough decisions about their education and safety. Among them is Zhang Mengqi, a Chinese student from Swansea, UK, who recently embarked on her journey back to the Chinese mainland.

With schools in the UK temporarily closed due to the outbreak, Zhang, like many others, chose to return home to reunite with her family and ensure her well-being. Her journey was a testament to cooperation and resilience. At the airport, Zhang and her fellow travelers worked closely with airport staff to navigate the complex customs procedures designed to prevent the spread of the virus.

Upon arrival in her hometown, Zhang proceeded to the designated quarantine hotel, a crucial step in the Chinese government's efforts to contain potential outbreaks. The quarantine period is essential for ensuring that travelers do not unknowingly carry the virus into their communities. Currently, Zhang is still under self-quarantine, adhering to the health protocols put in place to protect everyone.

Zhang's experience highlights the challenges faced by international students during these uncertain times. Her story underscores the importance of community cooperation and the measures necessary to combat the pandemic effectively.
