St. Petersburg Librarians Share Fairy Tales Over Phone to Support Quarantined Kids

As Russia grapples with a rise in COVID-19 cases, reaching 3,548 on April 3, the city of St. Petersburg has stepped up its efforts to support children during strict self-isolation measures announced on March 30. With schools and libraries closed to curb the virus's spread, innovative librarians are turning to phone fairy tales to keep young minds engaged.

Veronica Makarova, one of the educators spearheading this initiative, emphasizes the value of direct communication with children through storytelling. \"It's priceless to connect with kids and immerse them in the magical worlds of fairy tales,\" she explains.

Marina Terekhova, a fellow librarian, adds, \"For parents, our project is like a breath of fresh air because they need to keep their children occupied during these challenging times.\"
