Celebrating a half-century of friendship, China and Brazil are making significant strides in enriching local communities through the power of music. In Maré, Rio’s largest favela, home to 140,000 low-income residents, a new symphony orchestra is transforming lives.
Many children in Maré grow up without the opportunity to experience the wider world, but the State Grid Corporation of China in Brazil has changed that narrative. By funding a symphony orchestra, they’ve provided these young minds with a creative outlet and a glimpse into the diverse world of music, broadening their horizons and inspiring them to reach for greater heights.
This initiative not only fosters cultural exchange but also empowers the youth of Maré, giving them the boost they so badly need to envision and work towards a brighter future.
