Al-Daraj School: A Safe Haven for 3,600 Displaced Families in Gaza

In the midst of ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Al-Daraj School has emerged as a critical sanctuary for displaced Palestinians. Affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), this school has transformed into one of the largest shelters in the region.

Currently, Al-Daraj School is home to 3,600 Palestinians across 460 families, providing refuge and a semblance of normalcy amidst the turmoil. Among the residents are approximately 1,700 children, whose education and well-being are being safeguarded despite the challenging circumstances.

The conversion of educational institutions into shelters highlights the resilience and adaptability of communities facing displacement. Al-Daraj School not only offers shelter but also essential services to its residents, ensuring that families have access to basic necessities and support during these trying times.

As one of the largest shelters in Gaza, Al-Daraj School plays a pivotal role in the humanitarian efforts to protect and assist those affected by the conflict. The presence of such facilities underscores the urgent need for continued international support and intervention to address the humanitarian crisis in the region.
