65 Days Without Omer: The Ongoing Hostage Crisis

Omer Shem Tov, a 21-year-old from Israel, has been among the hostages taken by Hamas since October 7. As of today, he remains one of the 138 captives still held in Gaza, despite the recent truce agreement.

We visited Omer's parents at the Hostage Family Assistance Center in Tel Aviv. It's been 65 days since Omer was abducted, and his family has kept his room just as it was on the day of his disappearance, hoping for his safe return.

The conflict has taken a devastating toll on both sides. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), from October 7 to December 19, 19,667 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives, while over 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed in Israel. Additionally, 1.9 million Gazans have been displaced from their homes.
