Turkmen Student Bridges Cultures Through Dance in China

Gurdov Guvanch, a student from Turkmenistan known to friends as Wangzi (ā€˜Prince’ in Chinese), is turning cultural exchange into an art form. During his time in China, Wangzi has formed deep connections with local peers, embodying the spirit of ā€˜friendships without borders’ through shared experiences and mutual support.

Now, he and fellow Turkmen students are preparing a vibrant showcase of their heritage for an upcoming cultural festival, where they’ll perform traditional Turkmen dances for Chinese audiences. ā€˜It’s about sharing our story while learning theirs,’ Wangzi says, highlighting the two-way exchange shaping his journey.

The event underscores how global youth are redefining diplomacy through grassroots connections — one dance step, meal, or conversation at a time.
