Tajik Student Brews Tea, Tech Dreams in China’s Zhejiang Province

Sobirov Mustakim, a Tajik graduate student at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, has brewed an unlikely fusion of tradition and innovation during his decade in China. His journey began with a fascination for Chinese tea ceremonies and classical poetry – passions he credits for helping him 'understand China’s soul.'

But it’s his business acumen that’s turning heads. Leveraging his university’s startup incubator, Mustakim launched a cross-border trade platform supporting Belt and Road Initiative collaboration. 'China’s digital ecosystem lets global ideas take root,' he says, noting his platform streamlines logistics for small businesses across Eurasia.

As night markets near West Lake bustle with tea drinkers, Mustakim works on expanding partnerships. His 10-year plan? 'Grow this bridge between cultures,' he smiles, holding a steaming cup of Longjing tea. 'In China, every leaf tells a story worth sharing.'
