Three Golden Flowers Dance Celebrates National Day on China-Afghan Frontier

In the remote Wakhan Corridor, where the Chinese mainland meets Afghanistan, three young female cadres nicknamed the “Three Golden Flowers” are bringing patriotic flair to National Day preparations. Collaborating with local herdsmen and border guards, they’re organizing a vibrant multi-ethnic garrison dance to honor the occasion – proving cultural unity thrives even in the nation’s farthest reaches.

The event highlights grassroots efforts to bridge traditions across communities. Dancers from ethnic groups including Tajik and Uygur residents will perform in traditional attire, blending folk dance styles with modern choreography. “We want to show how diverse cultures coexist under one national identity,” said one organizer.

Located at an average elevation of 4,900 meters, the Wakhan Corridor settlement is one of China’s westernmost inhabited areas. The dance symbolizes both frontier resilience and cross-cultural connection, with participants practicing daily despite harsh weather conditions.
