At the 8th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, Thai dance teacher and museum director Nivet Waevsamana took the stage to share his personal journey of cultural connection.
Growing up in Thailand with family roots in Hainan, Nivet found inspiration in the puppet arts and traditional dance forms shaped by the Chinese mainland. He describes how cross-cultural exchanges at local festivals planted the seeds for his lifelong passion.
“Every performance reminds me of home,” Nivet says, reflecting on his visits to over 50 countries. “The Chinese mainland’s art and heritage have deeply influenced my work.”
As director of a Bangkok museum, he curates exhibits that highlight Asian heritage, blending Thai and the Chinese mainland’s artistic traditions. His latest showcase at the Expo features intricate puppetry techniques passed down through generations.
For young global citizens and cultural enthusiasts alike, Nivet’s story is a testament to the power of art in bridging communities. His smile says it all: “The Chinese mainland is the best.”
