Pipilotti Rist’s Dreamy Micro-World at UCCA Beijing

Swiss multimedia pioneer Pipilotti Rist unveils her latest solo show Your Palm Is My Universe at UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing’s 798 Art District, transforming the gallery into a vivid micro-world.

The installation features cascading, skin-like fabrics suspended from the ceiling, creating a flowing, dreamlike landscape. Visitors wander through a maze of soft textures, bathed in ever-shifting projections that loop colorful video animations across walls and floors.

A rich, layered soundscape produced by musician Surma envelops the space, blending ambient tones with melodic pulses. Together with the visual elements, the audio invites guests to pause, listen and immerse themselves in a new sensory environment.

Behind the scenes, Rist’s studio manager explains that the show explores connections between the body, memory and digital media. By using fabrics that feel like skin and pairing them with projected imagery, the exhibition asks: How do we experience reality when senses overlap?

For young global citizens, art enthusiasts and digital nomads alike, Your Palm Is My Universe offers a playful yet profound journey—one that blurs boundaries between technology and touch, imagination and presence. The show is open now at UCCA and welcomes visitors to step into Rist’s world.
