Since July 1992, Jumatay Aubakir—known affectionately as the 'doctor on horseback'—has ridden across perilous mountain roads to reach pastoral communities scattered across the high plateau. His mission: ensure that no patient is left without care, no matter how rugged the journey.
Traversing several mountain passes and narrow trails, he carries a worn but sturdy medical kit—actually four decades old and once used by his father. To residents here, that weathered box isn't just a supply kit; it's a symbol of intergenerational dedication to healing.
