Art Beyond Boundaries at 2025 Shenzhen-Milan Dual-City Fashion Week

The 2025 Shenzhen-Milan Dual-City Fashion Week opened on April 9 in Milan as a special tribute to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Italy. More than 150 artists, designers, entrepreneurs and media representatives gathered for the 'Art Beyond Boundaries' Cultural Design Show, blending Eastern craftsmanship with Western aesthetics.

A standout moment was the runway debut of Kuafu, a robot developed by Leju Robotics and dressed in creations by Chinese brand HUI. Walking with mechanical precision, Kuafu joined forces with traditional embroiders in an interactive performance that fused technology and fashion.

Barbara Mazzali, Lombardy's Regional Councillor for Tourism, Fashion, Design and Regional Marketing, highlighted the event's growing impact: 'Last year, we brought Italian fashion to Shenzhen. This year we welcome Shenzhen in the Chinese mainland to Milan—creating a bridge for global creativity during Milan Design Week.'

Huang Limin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Longhua District Committee of Shenzhen, reflected on Shenzhen's fashion evolution: 'Driven by tech innovation, we are transforming from "Made in China" to "Designed in China" and embracing Global Fashion. Our goal is to build a world-class fashion hub.'

Another highlight was the launch of the Shenzhen (Longhua)-Milan Fashion Trade Cooperation Office. As a one-stop platform for brand incubation and intellectual property support, the office aims to accelerate Shenzhen enterprises into the global supply chain and transition from 'Shenzhen manufacturing' to 'global brands.'

The exhibition paired Renaissance masterpieces with Shenzhen's cutting-edge products—from drone swarm performances and AI glasses to intelligent micro projectors and transparent TVs—creating a dynamic East-West collision of tradition and innovation.

Running until April 14, the Dual-City Fashion Week features themed events like 'Fashion & Tradition: Dual-City Cultural Sharing' and 'Design Wander: Industry-Innovation Integration,' fostering face-to-face exchanges and deeper industry collaboration.
