On Thursday, January 16, China Media Group (CMG) kicked off a series of special overseas activities with the \"Prelude to the Spring Festival Gala\" event in New York.
Shen Haixiong, President and Editor-in-Chief of CMG, delivered a compelling video address, setting the tone for the celebrations. The event featured speeches from notable figures including Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States; Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations; and Stephen Orlins, President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
Ernesto Ottone, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, congratulated China on the successful inclusion of the Spring Festival in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list through a heartfelt video message.
Nearly 200 guests attended, including Chen Li, Chinese Consul General in New York, along with diplomats from Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, Nicaragua, Cuba, and the Maldives, as well as representatives from various sectors. The event underscored China's rich cultural heritage and its growing global connections.
