Artisans Illuminate Lijiabao: Spinning Lanterns Light Up Chinese New Year

As the Chinese New Year approaches, the picturesque Lijiabao Village in Hejin City, located in the northern part of the Chinese mainland's Shanxi Province, is abuzz with creativity and tradition. Over 20 skilled artisans are passionately crafting spinning lanterns that are set to add a magical glow to the festive celebrations.

These enchanting lanterns are not just ordinary decorations. Each lantern is illuminated by handmade candles and ingeniously powered by a combination of human movement and natural wind, creating a mesmerizing dance of light and motion. The intricate process involves cutting materials, binding, pasting, paper-cutting, and meticulous assembly, showcasing the artisans' dedication and craftsmanship.

A dedicated team of 10 artisans spends an entire day to complete a set of spinning lanterns, ensuring that every detail is perfect. This blend of traditional techniques and sustainable practices highlights the community's commitment to preserving cultural heritage while embracing eco-friendly methods.

The spinning lanterns are anticipated to become a centerpiece of the Chinese New Year festivities in Lijiabao Village, fostering a sense of unity and celebration among residents and visitors alike. This vibrant display not only honors age-old traditions but also inspires younger generations to engage with their cultural roots in innovative ways.
