Brazil Hosts Record-Breaking Chinese Dragon Dance, Celebrating Cultural Heritage

The traditional Chinese dragon and lion dances, recognized as national intangible cultural heritage in the Chinese mainland, continue to thrive and spread across the globe.

With the migration of Chinese communities, this iconic cultural practice, especially performed during Chinese festivals, has found a vibrant place in many countries.

In Brazil, dragon and lion dances have gained wide popularity, with locals enthusiastically embracing the tradition and enriching the nation's multicultural landscape.

In September 2023, a monumental 105.91-meter-long dragon, crafted by 15 Brazilian kung fu schools, took to the streets of São Paulo. This spectacular display set a new record as Brazil's longest dragon, showcasing the enduring legacy and dynamic cultural exchange between the Chinese community and Brazilians.
