China’s National Day Holiday Hits Record 2 Billion Yuan at Box Office

The 2024 National Day holiday in China has proven to be a blockbuster success, with box office revenues soaring past 2 billion yuan (approximately $285 million), as reported by the movie data platform Maoyan.

Leading the charge are three standout domestic productions: The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death, Bureau 749, and Tiger Wolf Rabbit.

Directed by the acclaimed Chen Kaige, The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death marks the second installment of his renowned \"The Volunteers\" trilogy. Since its premiere on September 30, the film has amassed an impressive 781 million yuan, contributing to 38.1% of the holiday's total box office revenue.

Following closely are Lu Chuan's innovative sci-fi film Bureau 749 and the gripping crime drama Tiger Wolf Rabbit, which have grossed over 353 million yuan and 348 million yuan respectively as of Monday afternoon.

The National Day holiday has long been one of China's most lucrative periods for moviegoers, drawing large audiences eager to experience the latest cinematic offerings.
