China’s Inbound Tourism Surges 60% During National Day Holiday

China's inbound tourism experienced a significant boost during the recent National Day holiday, surpassing outbound travel figures for the first time. This remarkable growth can be attributed to China's 144-hour visa-free policy and a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing foreign visitors' experiences, particularly in consumption and accommodation sectors.

According to data from Ctrip.com, inbound tourism orders surged by an impressive 60 percent year-on-year during the holiday period. The top 10 outbound destinations for Chinese travelers include Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, the UK, Singapore, the Philippines, and the United States. Notably, these destinations rank among the leading sources of inbound tourists to China as well, highlighting a mutual interest between China and these countries.

This year, Thailand and Singapore, both of which benefit from mutual visa exemptions with China, secured the third and fifth spots respectively in terms of inbound tourism. These visa policies have played a crucial role in fostering stronger tourism ties between China and these nations, making them attractive choices for travelers and contributing to the overall increase in tourism activities.
