Tuesday marks the beginning of China's National Day \\"Golden Week\\" holiday, lasting until October 7 this year. During this period, the country's railway network is anticipated to handle a staggering 175 million passenger trips, according to data from the national railway operator.
On the first day alone, the railway sector is expected to manage 21 million passenger trips, as reported by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. To accommodate the rising travel demand, China has scheduled an additional 1,476 passenger trains on Tuesday, bringing the daily average to over 12,000 passenger trains throughout the holiday period.
Travel Rush
Data from Ctrip, China's leading online travel agency, reveals that tickets for many domestic scenic spots were sold out on the first day of the holiday. Additionally, orders for domestic scenic spot tickets surged by 37 percent year-on-year.
Outbound travel orders also saw a significant increase, with a nearly 40 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
