Berlin became the vibrant backdrop for a special cultural event celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on Saturday.
Titled "Written in the Sky: My China Story," the event was a collaborative effort organized by China Media Group (CMG), the Chinese Embassy in Germany, and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China's Ministry of Education.
The evening featured a mesmerizing performance by the German Burg Chinese Chorus, who delighted attendees with a blend of classic Chinese and German songs, including "On Wings of Song" and "Jasmine Flower." Adding an out-of-this-world touch, the Shenzhou-18 crew, currently orbiting Earth, sent a heartfelt video message from the space station and engaged with German teenagers.
Participants shared their wishes for the PRC's 75th anniversary, expressing a collective commitment to continue their personal and communal narratives with China to tackle global challenges and build a brighter future for humanity.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, emphasized China's dedication to strengthening international people-to-people exchanges, fostering dialogue among global civilizations, and enhancing mutual understanding.
"We will portray the ultimate romantic warmth of Chinese culture, record the continuous legacy of human civilization, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind," Shen stated.
Chinese Ambassador to Germany Deng Hongbo highlighted the deep cultural heritage shared by China and Germany, noting the ongoing mutual appreciation and learning between the two nations.
In a time of global challenges, Deng stressed the importance of enhanced communication and cooperation. He expressed hope that more young Germans will learn Chinese, develop an interest in Chinese culture, visit China, and become friendly ambassadors of Sino-German exchanges.
The "Written in the Sky: My China Story" event is set to take place in other countries as well, including the U.S., Canada, Russia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Nigeria.
