Rising Stars Shine at 19th Changchun Film Festival

The 19th Changchun Film Festival, which concluded on Sunday in Changchun, the vibrant capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, showcased the burgeoning talent within China’s cinematic landscape. Through initiatives like the New Force Forum and Golden Deer Ventures, the festival provided invaluable support and recognition to emerging filmmakers and actors.

A competitive pool of 124 films saw fifteen finalists earn their place for the prestigious Gold Deer Awards. This five-day cultural extravaganza culminated in an exciting finale where the brightest stars of Chinese cinema were celebrated.

The Best Film Award was proudly presented to The Great War, a compelling portrayal of China's People's Volunteer Army, masterfully directed by the renowned Chen Kaige. In the Best Director category, acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou took home the award for his 2024 blockbuster, Article 20.

Acting accolades went to the talented Peng Yuchang, who won Best Actor (Male), and Li Gengxi, who was honored with Best Actor (Female). Their performances have set a new benchmark for excellence in the industry, inspiring a new generation of actors.

As the festival wraps up, the industry eagerly anticipates the next wave of innovative films and the continued rise of China’s dynamic film talent.
