The vibrant city of Korla is set to become the cultural heart of Xinjiang with the 2024 \"Xinjiang is a Wonderful Land\" intangible cultural heritage exhibition. Running from August 22 to 26 in the Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, this fourth edition marks the largest event in the exhibition's history.
Visitors will be treated to the \"Intangible Cultural Heritage Market,\" featuring 16 specially curated stalls that offer a diverse array of locally crafted cultural products. From traditional crafts to unique artisanal creations, the market provides an authentic space to explore and purchase treasures that reflect the rich traditions of Xinjiang.
Adding a modern twist to the traditional market experience, the exhibition includes a live-streaming segment. This initiative aims to connect online audiences with the region's cultural heritage, allowing people from around the world to engage with and appreciate Xinjiang's unique offerings.
Korlu boasts over 100 intangible heritage businesses, including family-run shops and workshops, contributing to the region's vibrant cultural landscape. This year’s exhibition not only highlights these enterprises but also serves as a significant platform for showcasing the enduring and evolving cultural practices of Xinjiang.
As the largest event of its kind, the 2024 exhibition underscores the importance of preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage. It stands as a testament to Xinjiang's diverse cultural tapestry and its commitment to sharing this heritage with a global audience.
