Olympic Flame Highlights the Beauty of Pyrenees National Park

The Olympic flame is more than just a symbol of athletic prowess; it serves as a beacon that highlights the cultural and natural wonders of our world. This year, the flame shines brightly on two remarkable locations: the Pyrenees National Park and Wuyi Mountain.

Nestled along the border of France and Spain, the Pyrenees National Park has been a sanctuary for wildlife and flora since its establishment in 1967. The park is home to endangered species such as the bearded vulture, Pyrenean desman, Pyrenean chamois, and capercaillie, making it a critical area for biodiversity conservation.

In 1997, the eastern section of the park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Pyrénées – Mont Perdu Site. This designation showcases the park's stunning natural beauty and its importance as a habitat for diverse species. The presence of the Olympic flame in such a pristine environment underscores the connection between global events and the preservation of our planet's natural treasures.
