Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is undergoing a digital revolution, merging ancient practices with modern technology to reach a global audience. From acupuncture and cupping therapy to Cantonese herbal teas, these traditional health methods are trending on Chinese social media platforms. While some embrace them out of curiosity, others value them as time-honored wisdom passed down through generations.
With a history spanning thousands of years, TCM remains widely accepted in the Chinese mainland and is gaining international recognition for its unique strengths in disease prevention, control, and rehabilitation. According to the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the traditional medical system has expanded to 196 countries and regions worldwide.
At the recent sub-forum on TCM held in Qufu, Shandong Province, as part of the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, renowned TCM doctors, researchers, and heads of health departments from various countries convened to discuss how TCM can contribute to the global pursuit of health. The event highlighted the role of digital innovation in enhancing the accessibility and efficacy of traditional medical practices.
