Shanghai Film & TV Festivals 2024 Shine with Record Entries

The 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is set to dazzle audiences from June 14 to June 23, followed by the 29th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF) from June 24 to June 28. Both events are renowned for their prestigious awards, the Golden Goblet Awards and the Magnolia Awards, respectively.

This year's SIFF has seen an impressive influx with over 3,700 films submitted from 105 countries and regions. Among the 2,224 competition entries, there are 1,375 world premieres and 390 international premieres, highlighting the festival's growing global influence.

Meanwhile, the Magnolia Awards at the STVF attracted nearly 1,000 entries from 57 countries across five continents. The Drama section boasts approximately 190 TV series from China and a significant increase in foreign TV series, rising to nearly 170 from 110 the previous year—a remarkable growth of 53.7 percent, as reported by the SIFF official website.

These record numbers underscore Shanghai's pivotal role in the international film and television industry. For more insights and detailed highlights, check out the festival's latest infographic.
