Shanghai Embraces Global Cinema at ‘City of Films’ International Festival

Shanghai, a metropolis in east China, celebrates its vibrant film culture as the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) kicks off this week with the theme \"City of Films.\" The event welcomes guests from around the world, transforming the city into a hub for cinema enthusiasts.

Over the 10-day festival, approximately 450 films will be showcased across 47 cinemas in Shanghai and six additional venues in the Yangtze River Delta region. Notably, around a quarter of these films will premiere globally, highlighting Shanghai's status as a key player in the international film scene.

Moviegoers from across the Chinese mainland can purchase tickets both online and offline, ensuring easy access to the diverse array of screenings. \"I think the inclusiveness is a key reflection of its theme, 'City of Films.' During the festival, movie lovers of different age groups get together in the city to enjoy the pure joy of watching a wide variety of films,\" said a longtime film enthusiast who has been attending the festival since 2017.
