The Ningbo International Communication Center (NICC), one of the first international communication hubs in Zhejiang Province, east China, was officially unveiled on Wednesday. This significant development marks a new chapter in fostering global interactions and promoting Ningbo as a key player in international communication.
At the heart of NICC’s mission is the \"NB-PLUS\" initiative, designed to enhance foreign exchanges, cultivate international industries, and integrate industrial, innovation, and production chains. This comprehensive approach aims to create a seamless ecosystem that supports both local and global stakeholders.
During the inauguration, the \"Opportunity China • Dialogue with World\" platform was also launched. This platform plans to host over 150 Chinese-foreign cultural exchange activities across 12 categories, including performances, books, exhibitions, and archives throughout the year. These activities are set to enrich cultural understanding and foster meaningful connections between China and the rest of the world.
The NICC also introduced the \"Read China • New Youth\" exchange program, which connects young people from more than 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Britain, Germany, and Central and Eastern Europe. This program aims to build a vibrant exchange platform for youth from Ningbo and overseas, encouraging dialogue and collaboration among the younger generations.
Professor Jon Garibaldi, Provost of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, expressed his enthusiasm: \"This is a great opportunity for both China and the UK. Our collaboration in establishing a campus and conducting teaching has been fruitful, and we look forward to further research and cooperation. This opportunity highlights a very bright future ahead.\"
The event was graced by video congratulations from notable figures such as Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO; Georgios Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece; Long Yongtu, former Secretary-General of the Boao Forum; and Maitre Khalid EL Fataoui, President of the Moroccan Chinese Association for Cultural and Economic Revitalization.
Over 200 Chinese and foreign guests attended the ceremony, including Evandro Carvalho, recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and Director of the Research Collective for Brazil-China Studies, and Vincent Lemarchand, Honorary Citizen of Ningbo and President of the Rouen-Ningbo Friendship Committee. Their presence underscores the global significance of NICC’s initiatives and the strong international support for Ningbo’s role in global communication.
