Paris Opens Olympic-Themed Chinese Art Exhibition Celebrating Sino-French Ties

An Olympic-themed exhibition of Chinese art was unveiled at Les Invalides in Paris on Monday, marking a vibrant celebration of cultural and athletic synergy. The event, titled \"From Beijing to Paris: Olympic Tour of Chinese and French Artists,\" showcases over 200 artwork pieces from China, including Chinese ink-and-wash paintings, calligraphy, oil paintings, sculptures, and intangible cultural heritage items.

Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, Ligue de Football Professionnel, and several French art organizations, the exhibition aims to foster cultural exchange between China and France.

Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, emphasized the importance of sports and art as integral components of human culture, highlighting how they complement each other in beauty and expression.

David Lappartient, president of the French Olympic Committee, remarked on the significance of celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France during the Paris Olympics year. He noted that the exhibition beautifully illustrates the fusion of strength and beauty, conveying messages of peace and friendship.

Vincent Labrune, president of the Ligue de Football Professionnel, expressed his admiration for the profound influence of Chinese art on French culture and hoped that the exhibition would inspire greater appreciation for Chinese artistic heritage among French audiences.

Sun Xiaoyun, chairperson of the China Calligraphers Association, highlighted the uniqueness of Chinese calligraphy, describing it as an exquisite art form that embodies the soul of Chinese culture and promotes self-cultivation.

The exhibition is open to the public from May 7 to 18, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a historic cultural event that bridges artistic traditions and celebrates international friendship.
