Director Zhu Xinyi has made a remarkable impact with her latest short film, Grace Period, which was recently showcased at the Beijing International Film Festival. The sci-fi narrative follows a young female screenwriter who steadfastly believes in herself, bravely resisting external pressures and contradictions.

In an interview with CGTN, Zhu shared that the film is deeply personal, drawing from the injustices she has faced. \"I hope everyone who sees this short film will be braver than me,\" she expressed, highlighting her desire to inspire others through her work.

Zhu's journey into filmmaking is rooted in her academic background. She studied psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), initially aiming to become a psychiatrist.
