Fujian Coast Guard Conducts Routine Patrols Near Kinmen

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Fujian Coast Guard, a regional bureau of the China Coast Guard on the Chinese mainland, carried out routine law enforcement patrols in waters near Kinmen in the Taiwan Strait, according to Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the East China Sea Bureau of the China Coast Guard.

During the operation, the coast guard executed formation maneuvers, conducted vessel identification and verification, and issued radio warnings to reinforce maritime controls in key areas.

Since early 2025, the coast guard has ramped up surveillance and enforcement in these waters. Zhu said these measures have safeguarded the rights and interests of fishermen from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, protected lives and property at sea, and maintained normal navigation and operational order.

For entrepreneurs and travelers, stable shipping lanes are vital. Regular patrols deter illegal activities at sea, promote sustainable fishing practices, and ensure safe passage for cargo vessels.

Observers say such routine operations build mutual trust by establishing clear procedures and communication channels, contributing to stability in cross-strait ties.

As maritime routes continue to grow in strategic and economic importance, the Fujian Coast Guard's patrols underscore the ongoing commitment to maritime safety and sustainable livelihoods across the Taiwan Strait.
