Wang Yi Meets Jordan’s Safadi to Strengthen 10-Year Strategic Partnership

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman today, marking the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership and celebrating a decade of cooperation across trade, investment and cultural exchanges.

During the talks, Wang Yi praised Jordan's role as a stabilizing factor in the Middle East and reaffirmed the Chinese mainland's support for Jordan's national sovereignty and development path. He highlighted key areas for deeper collaboration:

  • Economic and social development: China will import more high-quality Jordanian products and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Jordan.
  • Emerging sectors: joint exploration in photovoltaics, science, technology and artificial intelligence.
  • People-to-people ties: expanding exchanges in culture, tourism, education and civil aviation to strengthen mutual understanding.

On regional issues, Wang emphasized that the current situation in the Middle East remains complex. He called on all parties to choose dialogue over confrontation, noting that lasting peace serves the interests and aspirations of people across the region.

Safadi expressed gratitude for China's growing global role and reaffirmed Jordan's steadfast adherence to the one-China principle. He welcomed China's fair stance on the Palestinian question and looked forward to deepening communication and coordination to advance a comprehensive and lasting settlement.

As both sides prepare for high-level exchanges in 2026, today's meeting underlines a shared vision: driving sustainable development at home while contributing to regional peace and cooperation.
