On Friday, December 12, 2025, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi met with United Arab Emirates Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Beijing, calling for a new chapter in China-UAE relations.

Wang highlighted that in the more than four decades since diplomatic ties were established, China and the UAE have built a partnership based on mutual respect, shared development goals, and complementary economies, making them natural friends and partners on the global stage.

He outlined key steps to push the comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level: strengthening communication and coordination, implementing the consensus reached by the heads of state, deepening strategic mutual trust, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and carrying forward traditional friendship. Wang also expressed readiness to support the second China-Arab States Summit, scheduled for 2026, and welcomed active participation from Arab nations.

Sheikh Abdullah praised the rapid development of UAE-China relations, citing fruitful cooperation across trade, energy, technology, and cultural exchanges. He reaffirmed the UAE’s adherence to the one-China principle, support for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposition to foreign interference in China’s internal affairs.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East, emphasizing shared interests in regional stability and prosperity. As global dynamics shift, the strengthened China-UAE partnership underscores a pragmatic alliance poised to shape regional and international agendas.
