Opened earlier this month in Kashi, Xinjiang, “The Luminous Journey – Kashi in Lights and Shadows” exhibition brings together 150 photographs by 17 photographers across nine countries.
A Global Lens on Kashi
Photographers from China, the UK, Greece, South Africa, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan traveled to this historic oasis city to capture its vibrant scenes. In total, nine countries are represented, with each artist exploring themes of color to illuminate everyday life.
Exploring Culture, Urban Life and Ecology
The exhibition features four thematic galleries: cultural continuity, urban development, social life and ecological transformation. From snapshots of bustling bazaars to panoramic views of changing landscapes, each image tells a unique story.
Sharing Authentic Perspectives
By presenting both fieldwork and globally collected works, this immersive display invites international audiences to discover a multifaceted portrait of Xinjiang’s Kashi. Through color-driven storytelling, it bridges distances and fosters a deeper understanding of this dynamic region.
