China Urges Japan’s Allies to See Through Tokyo’s Disinformation Over Radar Incident

This week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged Japan’s allies to remain clear-eyed and resist what it called Tokyo’s schemes following a recent radar illumination incident in contested waters.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to questions about a phone call between Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and his U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth, both sharing "serious concern" over the episode. "We’ve responded to this issue more than once," Guo said, adding that the facts are clear. He criticized the Japanese side for wishful, contradictory, and self-deceiving remarks aimed at stirring tensions and spreading disinformation.

Guo called on Tokyo to confront the root of current challenges in China-Japan relations, reflect on and correct its actions, and retract Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s erroneous remarks on Taiwan, rather than diverting attention and creating further troubles.

The exchange underscores growing diplomatic friction as both sides navigate strategic competition in the region. Observers note the radar incident has become a flashpoint in broader security dialogues, with implications for regional stability and alliances.

For young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and travelers, this episode highlights how regional disputes can quickly influence economic trends, security policies, and travel advisories across the Asia-Pacific.
