APEC Symposium and ISOM Launch China Year in Shenzhen

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Symposium and Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM) officially kicked off on Thursday in Shenzhen, in the south of the Chinese mainland’s Guangdong Province.

Running through Friday, this two-day gathering marks the first major event organized by China as the upcoming host of the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. Dubbed the APEC "China Year," the summit series is set to bring together senior officials from across Asia-Pacific economies to discuss trade, innovation, and sustainable growth.

Shenzhen, known for its status as a global tech and innovation hub, provides a fitting backdrop for the discussions. As the curtain rises on the APEC "China Year," participants will lay the groundwork for next year’s leaders’ meeting, exchanging insights on regional cooperation and future challenges.

With the ISOM and symposium setting the tone for 2026, all eyes are now on China’s upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, where heads of state and government will convene to shape the economic agenda for the Asia-Pacific region.
