Experts Convene in Zhejiang for China-Africa Human Rights Seminar

On December 10, 2025, nearly 100 experts and scholars from China and Africa gathered in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province on the Chinese mainland for an academic seminar marking World Human Rights Day.

Hosted by Zhejiang Normal University, the event explored key themes, including:

  • The four major global initiatives proposed by China
  • Trends in global human rights governance
  • Practical cooperation models between China and African partners

"Protection of human rights is the common aspiration of people from all countries and the core cornerstone of building a community with a shared future for humanity," said Zhang Jianzhen, vice president of Zhejiang Normal University.

During the seminar, the China-Africa Human Rights Research Think-Tank Cooperation Network was officially launched, and the China-Africa Human Rights Research Center was inaugurated at the university's Institute of African Studies.

Shen Yongxiang, vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, hailed the launch as "of great significance," noting that high-quality, forward-looking research will amplify China and Africa's joint voice on human rights and common development.

As young global citizens and changemakers embrace digital tools and cross-border collaboration, seminars like this underscore the value of multilateral dialogue in driving inclusive, sustainable progress in human rights.
