Wang Huning’s Visit Deepens China-Indonesia Strategic Partnership

Earlier this week, from December 3 to 4, China's top political advisor Wang Huning made an official visit to Jakarta at the invitation of Ahmad Muzani, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). The trip highlighted a shared ambition to deepen strategic cooperation and align development strategies between the two nations.

Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met President Prabowo Subianto to discuss implementing key agreements reached by both heads of state. He emphasized China's readiness to support Indonesia in safeguarding political stability and pursuing growth paths tailored to its own national conditions.

He also held separate talks with Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, Speaker of the Regional Representative Council. Together, they explored ways to boost bilateral friendship, enhance mutual trust and strengthen strategic cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.

In discussions with Ahmad Muzani, Wang reflected on 75 years of diplomatic ties, noting substantial progress and new opportunities emerging from China's high-quality development and high-standard opening up. He highlighted plans for the CPPCC and the MPR to deepen exchanges and mutual learning, building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China principle, voicing support for China's just cause of opposing Taiwan independence separatism and advancing national reunification. President Prabowo praised China's remarkable development and expressed eagerness to draw lessons for Indonesia's Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.

Both sides celebrated the outcomes of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, agreeing to leverage them to expand cooperation across infrastructure, trade and people-to-people exchanges. With existing Belt and Road projects already delivering results, leaders pledged to harness fresh synergies and take bilateral relations to a new level.
