Shanghai Hosts 3rd Global South Think Tanks Dialogue on Unity and Action

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Shanghai hosted the Third Global South Think Tanks Dialogue under the theme Seeking Strength Through Unity: Responsibility and Action of the Global South.

Nearly 350 participants – including political party leaders and think tank scholars from more than 120 countries – gathered to explore ways to deepen economic cooperation, foster people-to-people exchanges, and advance shared modernization efforts across the Global South.

Chen Jining, CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee secretary and member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, highlighted Shanghai's commitment to leveraging its role as a local government hub. He outlined plans to enhance economic ties with Global South partners, build mutual understanding through cultural and educational exchanges, and pursue common progress in sustainable development.

Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, reaffirmed China's longstanding support for the unity and strength of the Global South. He emphasized China's readiness to work with partner countries on implementing the four global initiatives and achieving shared prosperity.

Zambian Vice President Mutale Nalumango and other international delegates praised the blueprint from the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, expressing eagerness to collaborate with China on building a future marked by peace, security, prosperity, and sustainability.

The dialogue was organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and the Global South Think Tanks Alliance, marking a significant step toward deeper cooperation among Global South stakeholders.
