China urges Japan to fix Taiwan stance, safeguard vital trade ties

On December 4, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce called on Japan to correct its recent remarks on Taiwan, warning that political friction could undermine normal economic and trade cooperation between the two neighbors.

At a regular briefing, spokesperson He Yadong said Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's comments had "severely damaged the political foundation of China-Japan relations," and urged Tokyo to demonstrate its commitment with concrete actions.

"If the Japanese side insists on going the wrong way, the Chinese side will take necessary measures, and all consequences shall be borne by the Japanese side," He added, signaling a tough stance.

Despite these tensions, the Chinese mainland remains a magnet for global capital. Official data show that 54,000 new foreign-invested enterprises launched in China this year, marking a 14.7% year-on-year increase.

As the world's second-largest consumer market, China offers immense potential for investment and consumption. Coupled with high-quality development policies focused on green, digital, and intelligent transformation, the market provides fertile ground for the next wave of technological and industrial innovation.

From Shanghai's digital hubs to Guangzhou's green factories, entrepreneurs and startups are eager to tap into China's evolving industrial landscape. Yet many warn that political headwinds could stall ambitious projects.

Foreign firms, including Japanese-funded enterprises, have voiced optimism about China's growth trajectory. "China has been and will always be an ideal, safe and promising investment destination for foreign businesses," He said, reflecting a broader consensus among global investors.

With both sides at a political crossroads, businesses and tech communities will be watching closely. The path to stable, mutually beneficial trade hinges on diplomatic goodwill and a shared vision for economic collaboration.
