At a December 2, 2025, press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian responded to a letter sent by Japan to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Lin said Japan's letter to the UN chief was "full of erroneous views and hypocritical lies," arguing that Tokyo has yet to clarify its so-called consistent position on the Taiwan question.
He added that while the Japanese side claims adherence to a post-war international order, it remains evasive about specifics and has not provided China with a direct response.
"China firmly opposes Japan's efforts to challenge the post-war international order and to revive militarism," Lin said, urging Japan to reflect on its past, correct its mistakes, fulfill its obligations as a defeated nation, and honor its commitments to the Chinese mainland and the wider international community through concrete actions.
