CMG’s LNG-Fueled Broadcast Fleet Sets Sail for Milano Cortina 2026

Today, December 1, 2025, China Media Group (CMG) is dispatching more of its so-called “China Red” ultra-high-definition 4K/8K broadcast vehicles from the Chinese mainland to Italy. This move is part of the technical buildup for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, which open on February 6, 2026.

The shipment includes two cutting-edge broadcast units and two support vehicles that were staged at the Port of Taicang in Jiangsu Province on the Chinese mainland last month. They will board the Yuan Hai Kou, a large photovoltaic and liquefied natural gas dual-fuel car carrier.

Measuring 199.9 meters long and weighing 68,252 tons, the vessel features 12 vehicle decks and a hybrid energy system. It will sail via the Mediterranean Sea Lane and is expected to arrive in Italy after about 25 days, around December 26, 2025.

Once ashore, the fleet’s high-definition equipment will be delivered to Milan’s San Siro Stadium by January 13, 2026, in time for the Opening Ceremony. Throughout the Games, CMG’s team will produce 8K international video signals, offering fans immersive coverage of athletes, venues, and cultural events.

By blending LNG power with photovoltaic technology, this operation meets global sustainability standards and showcases an innovative approach to large-scale event logistics. For sports fans, tech enthusiasts, and global travellers, it’s a striking example of green shipping driving a major international event forward.
