China Urges Lasting Gaza Ceasefire and Enhanced Humanitarian Access

On Monday, November 24, 2025, at a UN Security Council session, Chinas permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, stressed that a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza must be the top priority to end civilian suffering.

Recalling the recent agreement on the first phase of the ceasefire, Fu noted that violent clashes continue despite the truce, with over 400 reported violations by Israel and more than 300 civilian deaths in Gaza. โ€œA ceasefire means the complete cessation of all attacks, and should be observed by all parties in good faith,โ€ he said. โ€œAny incident causing civilian casualties is unacceptable and repeated attacks must not become the new normal in Gaza.โ€

Fu highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where obstacles at crossing points and restrictions on aid deliveries are putting millions at risk. โ€œChina urges Israel to fully comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law, open all crossing points, lift restrictions on humanitarian access, and ensure that UNRWA and other agencies can carry out their relief operations,โ€ he said.

Looking ahead, any future arrangements on Gaza must respect the will of the Palestinian people. Fu called on the international community to double down on efforts to advance a two-state solution and oppose unilateral actions that could undermine its foundation. โ€œThe early realization of an independent Palestinian state and its full UN membership must be supported,โ€ he added.

With an eye toward long-term peace, Fu reiterated that China will continue to back the just cause of the Palestinian people and promote an early, comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
