On Saturday (Nov. 22, 2025) in Dushanbe, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a clear message: China will not tolerate external interference in its Taiwan region and will stand firm against any resurgence of Japanese militarism. Speaking at the first strategic dialogue with Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Tajikistan’s foreign minister, Wang emphasized Beijing’s commitment to the one-China principle and the preservation of hard-won World War II outcomes.
“China will never allow right-wing forces in Japan to turn back the wheel of history, nor permit external forces to meddle in China’s Taiwan region,” Wang said. His remarks come in response to recent statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the Taiwan region, which Beijing has deemed provocative.
During the talks, Wang also highlighted the importance of international unity on historical truths, calling on all parties to uphold the consensus reached after World War II. He stressed that safeguarding peace in the Asia-Pacific hinges on mutual respect and a shared understanding of past conflicts.
China and Tajikistan agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership, with both sides pledging cooperation on regional security, economic development, and cultural exchanges. The dialogue underscores China’s broader diplomatic efforts to reinforce its core interests while engaging with key partners across Central Asia.
As Tokyo navigates its foreign policy direction ahead of upcoming regional forums, these developments signal Beijing’s readiness to counter any challenge to its sovereignty over the Taiwan region and to defend the principles that shaped the modern international order.
