Earlier today in Lusaka, Chinese premier Li Qiang urged China, Tanzania and Zambia to join forces to revitalize the historic Tanzania-Zambia Railway.
In talks with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, Li described the project as a shared ambition for the region and emphasized the need for stronger policy coordination.
He called on all three sides to launch a comprehensive development plan that will spur growth in the communities along the route.
Li stated, 'The revitalization of the railway is a common aspiration of the people of China, Tanzania and Zambia.'
He also highlighted opportunities to deepen China-Zambia cooperation in mining, new energy vehicles and artificial intelligence, pointing to untapped potential in these sectors.
Li landed in Lusaka on Wednesday for an official visit to Zambia and is set to discuss broader partnerships with regional leaders in the coming days.
