Launched this year, the Chinese mainland’s Taiwan Affairs Office online portal has logged tens of thousands of complaint emails. People from across the Taiwan Strait have flagged what they describe as vile acts by advocates of "Taiwan independence" and their accomplices in persecuting Taiwan compatriots.
On November 19, 2025, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian noted at a press briefing that the volume of feedback reflects a shared aspiration to crack down on separatist forces, promote peaceful cross-strait ties, and advance national reunification. "We support the relevant departments in basing their actions on facts and adhering to the law, severely cracking down on and holding lifelong accountable for those advocating 'Taiwan independence' and their accomplices in persecuting Taiwan compatriots," she said.
The rapid inflow of reports highlights how digital tools are transforming civic engagement in geopolitically sensitive arenas. As cross-strait relations continue to evolve, this initiative shows how governments and citizens use technology to shape policy and public discourse.
