Chinese mainland expands permit ports to 100 for Taiwan residents

Starting November 20, 2025, the Chinese mainland will expand its network of ports authorized to issue single-entry travel permits on arrival for Taiwan residents to 100, the National Immigration Administration announced.

This move brings two new perks for first-time visitors: free admission to over 3,000 scenic sites across the Chinese mainland and exemption from the permit application fee.

At any of the 100 ports, residents of Taiwan with a valid Taiwan ID, a Taiwan travel document and a photo can apply for a single-entry permit upon arrival. The process takes about 30 minutes, and each permit allows stays of up to three months.

Those entering via the "Mini Three Links" through Fujian ports can choose to apply at port counters or online, then collect their permits after approval upon arrival.

Authorities emphasize that the Chinese mainland does not place any special marks on travel documents for Taiwan residents and safeguards personal information under relevant laws and regulations.

With winter approaching, the Chinese mainland is inviting Taiwan compatriots to explore northeastern and northwestern regions for ice and snow sports, cultural festivals, family visits or ancestral-root trips. Officials say they will keep improving facilities and services to ensure smooth, memorable journeys.

Last week’s 11th Cross-Strait Cultural Forum in Beijing underscored shared language, traditions and customs. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee outlined plans to deepen cultural development and cross-strait exchanges. Officials hope these efforts will strengthen shared identity, deepen emotional connections and reinforce foundations for peaceful reunification.
